 | Morning's Refrain is an enjoyable book to read May 29, 2010 |
I was unsure if I would enjoy the second book Morning's Refrain by Tracie Peterson in the series Song of Alaska because of the negative reviews that I read on this book. But since I had read the first book and enjoyed it, I decided to go ahead and purchase it and read it. Well, I am glad I did because I did enjoy it and look forward to the third book coming out soon.
This story takes place 18 years after the first book ends and is about Dalton Lindquist, the son of Lydia Lindquist. He desires to learn more about his past and who his family was before his mother came to Alaska to live. After much soul searching, he decides to leave Alaska for a time and go back to Kansas City with his Aunt Evie to search out the many dark family secrets. The book, of course, also, has a romantic side to it with Dalton falling in love with a woman named Phoebe.

| I was waiting for book 2 which is Morning's Refrain to come out and now I can't wait to read book 3. Tracie Peterson never dissapoints. I enjoy the 1800's. Even though there were hard times it was simpler times. In each of her stories her characters persevere, overcome and love. In my relationship with Jesus, I persevere, overcome and love. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. In the 1800's Jesus wanted to see how people overcame trials and in 2010 the same. She is an amazing writer. I would like to see her books become movies. I enjoyed reading the first 2 in this serious. | | | | Great Book May 18, 2010 |
| I have really enjoyed reading this series so far. I cannot wait until August for the next one. | | | | a somewhat historical look of alaska Apr 14, 2010 |
Morning's Refrain is the 2nd book of the Song of Alaska series by Tracie Peterson. I enjoyed the first book, but the 2nd book was a tad bit disappointing.
The story takes place 18 years later after the first book. Lydia's son, Dalton Lindquist has found out about his secret parentage and his family in Kansas City, Missouri. Meanwhile, a new governor has come to the Alaska Territory. With the new governor comes his assistant and his daughter, Phoebe. Phoebe falls off the dock the day she arrives and without hesitation, Dalton leaps into the water to save her. Dalton and his friend Yuri eventually become interested in the young Phoebe, and she in Dalton. However Dalton gets called away to Kansas City when his sister Evie's husband is said to be ill. He accompanies her to meet the family he has never known and to see the true deceptive side of his siblings. While Dalton is away, Yuri tries to win the affections of Phoebe, however there lies more problems within Yuri as he has taken to gambling and drinking.
I enjoyed the storyline, but it seems Tracie Peterson's books are becoming a bit predictable. You can easily guess that the main female lead and the male lead in her books will end up together just by reading the summaries on the book cover. I enjoy the historical look she presents in the series about Alaska, how people live, the natives, and how life was. However her characters are beginning to seem similiar from each of her series. Neitherless, I still enjoyed the book and will be reading the next one when it is released. | | | | Chistian Historcal Fiction Romance Apr 8, 2010 |
