Watching this series again after 20 years years it still holds up for today as it did when it first aired with its values more shows should be like this. This is Michael Landon at best with his character and his distinctive laugh.
The picture was great but the sound could be a little higher and the opening credits should be on every episode as they list the guest stars on it. I diud not have any trouble with any of the extras especially the quiz which I had no trouble with it .

| This was the perfect gift for my niece and nephew for Christmas. They absolutely love it. Instead of watching Disney channel (some shows are too mature) and Disney movies, this was another option. I loved the series as a child and this was something that I could give them amid the questionable shows targeted towards children today. | Image quality ok considering the age. But the sound is far from ok and not surround. A big deception and it was not even advertised on the description. Be careful not to get fooled. I agree with all the good things people are saying about Little House. I won't waste space retyping the same things that have been written by others.
My main issue is with the poor packaging and design. Though the discs are attractive and classy, the casing that holds the discs is very awkward to use.
It must be unfolded three times when looking for a disc. Once opened, it's floppy and hard to handle. The pamphlet in the back falls out of its pouch every time I open the case. It contains all the information about what's on each disc. It's an important piece of this set. More care should have been taken to secure and protect it.
Each disc has the face of one of the Little House characters. But who is that man on disc 4? Why, it's Ernest Borgnine! What is he doing on this set? It should be Mr. Edwards or one of the other well-known characters from Walnut Grove, not the face of a guest star who played in one episode.
I expected to find a Behind the Scenes segment, but there's nothing. Interviews, problems, personalities... all missing, all ignored. All we're given is a quiz. Also missing are the credits that run at the end or beginning of any show. I don't know who the guest stars are unless I recognize their faces.
I'm reluctant to purchase another season. Though I love Little House, this set offers no reason to spend the money on the DVD series. I can record the still-running episodes from my TV for free, mark the discs or videos any way I'd like, and store them without a loose and losable pamphlet. | | |  | Good family entertainment Nov 7, 2007 |
This is one of the original family stories that carrties excitment and teaches values. Mr. Edwards is introduced as a frined of the family, with Ma being doubtful if he can be trusted. Of course, he has problems with the girls, but has his unique style of dealing with it. It's better of Ma didn't know how he did it!
