I bought this because it has a lot of articles within the books of the Bible. It's like an apologetics collection combined with a Bible, so this was a good option for me. I typically do not use the HCSB version, but given the other resources within these pages, I still thought it would be a good resource.

This was the first apologetics study bible I had seen commercially available. I was excited to pick it up. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by many of the inserts taking an attacking view on somewhat controversial matter. The "Twisted Scripture" inserts were offensive, even when my personal opinion was somewhat in line with what was being expressed. Apologetics is about presenting a defense, not an attack. The reasoning behind many of the statements did not carry much weight. For example, one insert stated that the gospel and baptism were in conflict with each other because Paul could not remember who he had baptized. That is not a reasonable argument.
I understand that any theologian will have an opinion on the matter but if you cannot back it up with several scriptural examples with exegesis then you should not put it into print as fact. Bought this for our daughter who just turned 16. She loved it. It has tons of additional info that she is interested in devouring. From my layman's perspective (and 40+ yrs of study), the material is accurate and well put together.

I recommend the scriptures above all, but the notes and details that this Study Bible furnishes will make a wonderful apologetic learning instrument for the non-scholar.

| I've been enjoying looking through the pages of my Apologetics Study Bible. The added commentary is informative and enlightening. I wasn't too sure if I would care for this version of the Bible, but it has turned out to be a reliable one. I like the sturdy, leather cover, but wish the binding had been a little better as some of the pages are creased and stuck within the book.
