 | Best for Startup Business People May 21, 2010 |
I first learned of this book when Dave Ramsey interviewed George Foreman on his Fox Business television program, so when the chance to read this book came up, I jumped at it. Foreman is best known for two things: boxing and grilling. He has become one of America's best pitchmen and entrepreneurs, and in this book he shares his perspective on latching to innovative ideas.
In this book, George Foreman utilizes his boxing career (both stints as world heavyweight champion) as analogies for the business world. While this book isn't heavy hitting with new insights, George does offer his perspective on how to conduct general operations of a business, and how to look for the great opportunities around us.
If you're looking for leadership insights, so some secret to success that no one else has access to, you won't find those here. Instead, this book reads more like a series of advice columns, and addresses everything from honest and integrity to personal presentation and the team you surround yourself with. And, not to be left out, George relays his great dependency on God for success.
This book is a good read for anyone involved in either starting or running a business. You won't get great secrets, but there are a ton of simple things to do that can lead to success.

It's always good to read a bunch of real-life examples of how someone succeeded in life through adversity, changes and challenges. George Foreman has obviously done that, and this book is an outline of his thoughts on entrepreneurship as a result of his life experiences. There are moments when the book shines - when the author talks about out-working the competition or about overcoming negative people and circumstances. But there are also plenty of pages where it seems to just be one tired cliche after another. This would be a 5-star book if the editors had only kept the high-impact chapters.
Overall, this is a good read. It's chapters are short and well focused. There are stories that you can take out of it and apply to your life and work right away. There are many, many examples of how to apply the advice in the book. George Foreman is charming and genuine and that comes through in the writing. As a bonus, you get digital versions when you buy the hardback, so you certainly get your money's worth. | | | | Knockout Entrepreneur Shocked Me in a Good Way Apr 7, 2010 |
Every now and then you read a book that surprises you. That is what reading Knockout Entrepreneur by George Foreman did to me. It surprised me!
Foreman does and excellent job of making the reader feel as though he is sitting with you sharing his views, experiences, and knowledge about what it really takes to be a successful entrepreneur. From sharing his story about the George Foreman Grill to the ideas to stimulate your success, Mr. Foreman does an excellent job of keeping it real for the intended reader.
The bottom line is that there is a lot of junk out there that offers no real value of what it really means to become a success. People are money hungry these days and will feed you anything to make a buck. In the end you are left scratching your head and wondering what the next step really is. I can honestly say that I could not put down the book. Every page of Knockout Entrepreneur has something of value. Whether is a good story, a good laugh, some stern truth or a practical tip, there is some value.
Knockout Entrepreneur is a great read for any one looking to become a successful entrepreneur by using practical techniques for business growth. Don't let the fact that George Foreman is a former heavy weight champion of the world fool you. Boxers are no dummies and Foreman is proof of that. | | | | Entertaining advice for business...and life! Apr 7, 2010 |
I received a copy of this book to review and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. In the book George Foreman and Ken Abraham sets out George's main principles of business (and life!) and give his own unique perspective on how to get on in the world and be successful. Written in an accessible and charming way I was entertained throughout. There are plenty of stories and anecdotes in amongst the ideas and advice given, and this keeps the book gliding along at a really nice pace, without ever getting `dry'.
There is lots to enjoy in this book, but what I liked the most was the encouraging way it put forward its ideas - there is a real sense of positivity in this book and George's "can do" attitude leaps off the page. I also enjoyed the fact that George never seems to give up or rest on his laurels. At the end of each chapter there are questions to ask yourself to spur you on to further success, give back, and grow.
There are many lessons to be learned from this book and plenty of ideas which we can all apply to our own lives. I have long been a fan of George's boxing and his grills...now it turns out I appreciate his writing too!

As the title suggests, this book is about entrepreneurship. It is about being a champion in business but the principles shared in the book can be applied to other areas of life as well.
George Foreman shares with the readers the knowledge and insight that he has gained regarding business from being a world famous former Heavyweight Boxing Champion and presently a well known entrepreneur.
He shares fourteen principles in the book, that have helped him succeed both in boxing and business. He writes about the tough times and struggles he faced, the mistakes he made and how he overcame them and what he learnt from them. Even though some of the principles might not be new to readers who are familiar with business books, there are certain things that you can learn from the stories that he shares from his life.
There are a lot of leadership principles and lessons that can be applied to everyday life. The questions at the end of each chapter help with coming up with ideas and plans that can be implemented in the readers life.
The book will also be a good read for anyone interested in biographies since he shares a lot of stories from his life. If gives you an opportunity to get to know the person.
I would recommend this book for anyone that is looking for practical principles and help in business or leadership. Even though the book mainly focuses on entrepreneurship, the principles can be applied in school and work as well.
