Item Description...
Product Description A thorough study of the current evidence both for and against the theory of evolution is timely. This Teacher's Manual is designed for student from grades 6-12 (and adults) and is intended to accompany the book Evolution: The Grand Experiment. It has been specially designed to be easily used and adapted for a variety of educational applications. Expertise in the theory of evolution is not required to teach this specific unit study. There is no such thing as an alternative to evolution, no evidence against it other than the bible (an unauthenticated document of dubious origin) and to use language like "scientists who oppose evolution" is a contradiction in terms. No real scientist with expertise in any of the relevant fields 'opposes' evolution.
As to the 'evidence'. Here's an example. The author claims that (at the time of writing), no common ancestor for seals, sea lions and warlruses had been found. Therefore they did not evolve. Firstly, this is a fallacious argument, where the lack of a specific piece of evidence for a minor portin of a much larger overall concept is taken as evidence AGAINST the concept, rather than taking it for what it is - a MISSING piece of evidence.
Secondly, like many other of these fallacious arguments, it is susceptable to being debunked when that piece of evidence is found...... as is the case here:

This book is not science and these 'ideas' have no place in a science class. This is nothing but a piece of christian apologia

| This Teacher's Manual is nice to go along with the text book. Since there is a lot of information in the text book, The Teacher's manual gives discussion questions, and study points to help the students prepare for the Chapter tests. The oral discussions and chapter tests are your only guage for how well the student understands the information. It includes 2 different tests for each chapter, that you can choose between, or alternate between. The Student Text is NOT included in the Teacher's manual, so for a class room setting to read at the same time, the teacher might want his/her own copy of the Text book in addition to the teacher's manual. A homeschooling family would only need one copy of the Text book, to share. We are a homeschooling family using this book all together as a family for several ages/grades at the same time. gr. 7, 5, 2, & K. The younger kids don't do the tests unless they ask. | | | | A note from the author, Dr. Carl Werner, about Evolution: The Grand Experiment Presentation CD Jun 4, 2008 |
Evolution: The Grand Experiment Presentation Cd
I would like to point out another product associated with the book and Teacher's Manual. This disk, titled "Evolution: The Grand Experiment Presenation CD," is designed to be used by anyone who speaks to groups on the topic of creation or evolution, including teachers and lecturers. This Presentation CD does not replace the actual book or Teacher's Manual but is designed to offer a method to present selected pages from the book to a group. These electronic files can be loaded onto your laptop computer and then shown using a video projector or a television connected to your computer. Beautiful photographs of the fossils and diagrams from the book can enhance any presentation.
This CD also contains two video clips of scientists who were interviewed for the book and the upcoming video series under the same title.
As an added bonus, the disk contains the "Objectives For Students" pages from the Teacher's Manual in an electronic format. This allows teachers to print these objectives for a larger group using a computer printer.
In essence, an entire series of lectures on the topic of evolution/creation can be presented using this CD. The book's 700 color photographs and diagrams will entertain any audience. | | | Write your own review about Evolution: The Grand Experiment Teacher's Manual
